About Us: Starley-Leavitt's History

In 1952 Lloyd A. Hamilton of Twin Falls began serving the Magic Valley as an independent insurance agent. His operation quickly outgrew the office in his home, subsequently moving into a business office in downtown Twin Falls . Soon afterward, he built the current building at 715 Shoshone Street North . This location continues to serve customers from the Magic Valley and surrounding areas.

The agency flourished and enjoyed a reputation as an agency of integrity and service. In 1983 Mr. Hamilton decided it was time for retirement and the pursuit of other interests, and he sold the agency to his top producer, Grant E. Starley. The agency continued to operate successfully under the name of Hamilton Insurance Agency, Inc. with offices in Twin Falls and Burley until 1992. It was then purchased by First Security Corporation and operated as First Security Insurance. Another name change occurred in 2000 when First Security Corporation was sold to Wells Fargo Corporation. On May 1, 2002 the agency returned to local ownership with the purchase of the business, along with the purchase of the Strolberg-Leavitt Agency and the Johnson-Leavitt Agency by The Leavitt Group, Allen R. Starley, and Grant E. Starley. On August 1, 2002 the Hadden Insurance Agency of Shoshone , Idaho also became a part of Starley-Leavitt Insurance Agency.

Throughout these ownership changes, much of the staff has remained and the agency has continued to grow and operate profitably. The transition to Starley-Leavitt Insurance Agency, Inc. has been exciting.
